Needles Pleasure Cruises
Throughout the season, launches leave Alum Bay beach on short cruises for close-up views of the Needles Lighthouse and rocks. After leaving the beach the boat cruises under the 400 ft. cliffs to view the sea-level Victorian fort and, high up in the cliffs, the cormorant nesting colonies - both of which may only be viewed from the sea. At the seaward end of the bay, the boat passes the remains of the original 'Needles' rock and then goes close to the massive Needles Lighthouse. On the return trip, the boat cruises further off shore to enable passengers to appreciate the breathtaking views of the cliff and coloured sands and to catch sight of the Needles Coastguard look-out. During the trip, an interesting commentary is provided to ensure that no points of interest are missed. All trips are subject to the weather being good enough for a totally safe passage. |
