Educational visits
for primary and junior schools

Monkey Haven is a Gold award-winning sanctuary and the ideal place for a fun and educational school visit. We care for an array of wonderful creatures, and students will love to find out all about their histories and individual personalities.

As a sanctuary for rescued primates and birds of prey, we are committed to increasing public awareness of why these animals came to be in our care, and the threats that face their relatives in the wild.

Our education programmes cover a wide range of topics that can link into your curriculum and we will ensure that you are given appropriate talks and resources so that you can make the most from your visit.

School visit includes:

  • Welcome and introduction to the staff
  • Wise Owl Lodge - on-site classroom to leave belongings and learn about our animals.
  • Guided tour of the Haven
  • Close animal encounters with the opportunity to meet one of our hand-reared owls and friendly reptiles.
  • Free use of all on-site facilities.

Our education sessions will last approximately two hours, during which you will be accompanied by one of our education officers. Once the session ends, pupils are free to explore the Haven with their teachers or have fun in our adventure play area.
