Workshop

The workshop at Shanklin theatre is a fun introduction to how a professional show is produced. It lasts approximately two hours and during that time the children will be taught a short show, which includes singing, dancing and presenting which they will perform to the teachers at the end of the workshop. A DVD of the performance is then given to the group.
The children will also be shown a demonstration of theatrical lighting, one child will be made up as a pantomime dame and the sound system will be explained with help from some pupils on microphones.
We also give them a short tour of the theatre and have a question and answer session.
The workshop is run with three professional performers who work in the industry and is a fun, interactive introduction to the theatre.

Show

For twenty years we have been running the hugely popular ‘kids’ shows throughout May, June and July to visiting school parties.
This year the show is called ‘Boom’ and is a comedy about inept pirates from the seventeenth century.
The show is packed full of silly jokes and modern pop songs and is guaranteed to have the children (and teachers) dancing, singing and laughing from start to finish. Some schools even come in fancy dress to add to the atmosphere.
For an action packed, funny, musical and noisy evening that the children will love you can’t go wrong with our show.
